Elementary Curriculum

At Attalla City Schools, we believe a strong foundation in knowledge and critical thinking is key to student success. Our curriculum promotes academic excellence while supporting social, emotional, and personal growth. Through strong community partnerships, we give every student the tools and opportunities to thrive in a changing world.

Child Outcomes

  • At Attalla City Schools, we teach the Alabama State Standards for each grade level. We are committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Tiered instruction is a foundational component of our MTSS framework, allowing us to provide targeted interventions at varying intensity levels based on each student's needs. This approach ensures that all students, from those who excel to those requiring additional support, have access to the appropriate resources for their academic growth.
  • To monitor progress and guide instruction, we utilize iReady as both a universal screener and a tool for progress monitoring. I-Ready provides valuable data that helps our educators identify student strengths and areas for improvement, enabling them to tailor instruction effectively. Using i-Ready ensures that our tiered interventions are data-driven, personalized, and responsive, allowing for continuous support and improvement for all students.

  • At Attalla City Schools, fractional reasoning progress monitoring tracks students’ understanding of key fraction concepts through regular assessments. The data guides instruction and interventions, helping ensure all students build a strong foundation for advanced math skills.

ACAP Testing
In the Attalla City School System, all grades 2 through 8 are assessed annually using the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) to measure academic achievement. The ACAP evaluates students' proficiency in key subjects, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. These assessments help the district monitor student progress, identify areas of strength and improvement, and ensure all students meet state standards. The results of the ACAP tests provide valuable data that inform instructional decisions, allowing educators to tailor lessons and interventions to meet the specific needs of each student. Additionally, by regularly administering the ACAP, Attalla City Schools are committed to ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education supporting their academic success.
